Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - One of the food seasoning commodities namely onion gave the highest inflation rate in Banjarmasin in April 2018 which was recorded at 0.08 percent.


"The highest inflation trigger in Banjarmasin is red onion followed by chicken eggs, Muslim clothes, chicken meat, and red chili," said Head of South Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency Diah Utami in Banjarbaru, Wednesday.

She said inflation in 2018 in South Kalimantan stands at 0.08 percent with a cumulative inflation rate of 0.54 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate of 2.86 percent.

The 0.08 percent inflation came from a rise in the consumer price index (CPI) in March 2018 of 131.72 to 131.82 in April 2018.

"Commodities that have fallen in price with the highest share of deflation include air transport, household fuel, snakehead fish, long eggplant and spinach," he said.

Meanwhile, inflation in South Kalimantan, which is a combination of Banjarmasin and Tanjung, amounted to 0.11 percent in April 2018 with a cumulative rate of 0.62 percent and year-on-year inflation of 2.89 percent.

Inflation in Tanjung, which is about 300 kilometers from Banjarmasin, is 0.61 percent with a cumulative rate of 1.69 percent and year-on-year inflation rate of 3.46 percent.

Commodities that experienced price increases with the highest inflation share the same to Banjarmasin ie onion followed by chicken meat, spinach, orange and gold jewelry.
