Pelaihari, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Regent Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan, H Bambang Alamsyah made the first strike to mark the inauguration of Balogo Tournament in Sumber Makmur Village, Takisung Subdistrict, Saturday (10/2).
Balogo is a traditional folk game in South Kalimantan. In old days, this game usually played by children, but now adult male also like it to revive the game.
Player uses logo, made of a coconut shell with a size of about half of an adult palm, and a stick called panapak made of bamboo to strike the logo and hit his opponent's logo.
Sumber Makmur Sukarjo village chief said there are 41 balogo teams that follow the tournament with a 20-day implementation time.
"Participants are not only from Sumber Makmur Village, but also from outside the Village," he told.
Separately, Regent H Bambang Alamsyah expressed his gratitude to the committee who had prepared the race.
"Balogo tournament is very popular in South Kalimantan, especially in Tanah Laut District," he said.
He advised the participants to uphold sportsmanship during the competition.
Also attending the event, Head of Takisung Subdistrict Adi Wibowo, Village Head of Sumber Makmur Sukarjo and participants of the tournament.
