Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - An inmate of Class IIA Banjarmasin Prison was found dead hanging himself in a toilet in Block A room 18.

"The victim was first discovered by his fellow inmate on Thursday (11/1) morning, at around 05.00 am," said the Police Chief Sr Comr (Kombes) Anjar Wicaksana in Banjarmasin on Thursday.

The man named A (26) was found in a hanging state of the neck using a cloth blanket.

"A rope made of orange Balinese sarongs was rolled up to a length of about 1.5 meters, we have seized as evidence," Anjar said.

The victim is a resident of West Banjarmasin Sub-district.

"He is a drug case convict with the sentence of 5.3 years imprisonment," said Anjar again.

Meanwhile, from the prison officer's information to Antaranewskalsel, previously the victim had contacted his family asking for some money to pay a debt.

"Even the victim threatened to commit suicide if money not sent," said one prison officer.
