Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Kotabaru Deputy Regent Syairi Mukhlis along with Chairwoman of the district Family Empowerment and Welfare driving team (TP-PKK) Suci Anisa welcomed the South Kalimantan Family Improvement Program (PK2D) assessment and verification team.

Syairi Mukhlis said the assessment serves as an evaluation to improve the implementation of the program.

“Family is the smallest unit in society, but plays a crucial role in determining the quality of human resources and the future of the region,” he said.

The district government, he said, remains committed to promoting various programs to improve the quality of family, including strengthening family resilience, role of women, protecting children, and empowering family economy.

Chairwoman of Kotabaru TP PKK Suci Anisa said the assessment is an important opportunity to see the extent of effort made and to evaluate the family improvement program to develop and provides tangible benefits to the community.

She appreciated all parties who worked hard in supporting the family development programs in the district.

This program, she pointed out, is an effort to encourage families to meet their educational, health, economic needs and to have good and child-friendly parenting, that uphold moral values, culture, and food security.

One of the assessors, Rosda, informed that the assessment was conducted through field observation, interviews with village officials and the community, and verification of program implementation documents.

Achievement of family welfare indicators, the effectiveness of program implementation, institutional role, and innovations developed at village level.

She also noted that Kotabaru scored a family quality index of 75.91, which is in the category of gender-responsive and child-rights.

“This result shows the hard work of the Kotabaru regional family quality improvement has shown the results that can be directly felt by the community,” she said.

The assessment and verification of PK2D in Kotabaru was carried out in Sampanahan Village from 2025 to 2026.

Sampanahan was chosen because it has shown significant progress in the implementation of community empowerment and family development programs over the past few years.
