Elementary school girl drowned in the river

Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan 8/7 (AntaranewsKalsel) - An elementary school (SD) student was drowned while bathing in the coastal waters of the Martapura River near Gugun Ice Factory in South Basirih Urban Village, South Banjarmasin.

"The victim Melly Putrian (12), whose address is not far from the scene, she is drowning," said Head of Water and Air Police Unit (Satpolairud) Comr (Kompol) Untung Widodo here on Saturday.

It was began when the victim bathed in the river with three friends on Saturday morning at around 07:45. But then the mother realized her girl did not come home.

Residents around immediately did a search by splashing into the river around the location where the victim bathed.

At around 08.30, the body of the victim was found not far from where the victim was bathed and was in a state of no motion.

"The victim was taken to TPT Hospital to get medical help, but the victim was not saved," said Untung.

The victim's own family did not approve post-mortemand the victim was taken to the funeral home to be buried.
