Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) destroyed illegal drugs and cosmetics worth Rp4 billion in South Kalimantan governor's office yard here on Friday.
The illegal goods are of confiscation by BPOM in Banjarmasin during 2016. The destruction chaired by the Head of BPOM center Panny Kusumastuti Lukito.
According to Penny, the destroyed evidence consists of 1.567.480 pieces of illegal drugs with the economic value of more than Rp3.9 billion.
Furthermore, she said, 4,221 pieces of traditional illegal drugs worth Rp71.3 million, and 497 pieces of illegal cosmetics worth Rp11.2 million and 5,191 pieces of G-class drugs worth Rp5.4 million.
Besides that also destroyed 530 expired drugs worth Rp310 thousand, two pieces supplements worth Rp25 thousand, 12 pieces of expired traditional medicine worth Rp10,500.
"So total goods we destroyed today as much as 1,577,933 pieces with the economic value of Rp4 billion," she explained.
Panny expressed appreciation to the Kodim 1007/Banjarmasin that helped secured as many as 1.5 million carnophen pills which is of G-class drugs.
According to Panny, supervision of medicine and food to ensure healthy and safety to consume is a major task of BPOM, but it needs the support of community and other regulatory agencies.
The extermination event was attended by Acting Head of South Kalimantan Health Agency Muslim, Banjarmasin Police Chief Senior Commissioner Anjar Wicaksana and 1007/Banjarmasin District Commander Lt. Col. Wilson Napitupulu.
