We along with Tanah Bumbu Regent Mardani H Maming has done groundbreaking to mark the beginning of construction of the prison,Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan Regional Office of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) builds a new prison in Batulicin, Tanah Bumbu, to reduce the overcrowding rate of Kotabaru prison.
Head Office of South Kalimantan Kemenkumham Imam Suyudi in Banjarmasin on Saturday said the building of the prison will reduce the number of occupants in Kotabaru prisons currently about 1,200 than it should accommodate only 180 inmates.
In addition, 60 percent of prisoners (WBP) in Kotabaru are citizens of Tanah Bumbu.
"We along with Tanah Bumbu Regent Mardani H Maming has done groundbreaking to mark the beginning of construction of the prison," he said.
Batulicin prison is built on an area of six hectares, a grant from the Government of Tanah Bumbu. It is located in the village of Saring, Sungai Bubu, Sub-district of Kusan Hilir.
The Kemenkumham in synergy with the regent and seek support from the relevant agencies in order to accelerate the construction of the prison complex. The two floors offices now being built and will be followed by blocks to housing prisoners.
Meanwhile Tanah Bumbu Regent Mardani H Maming appreciated the development of prison in Batulicin. "My appreciation to head of South Kalimantan Kemenkumham desire and I am ready to continue directly to the governor," he said.
