The poverty rate in state of March 2016 recorded 4.85 percent, up 0.13 percent compared to the poor in September 2015 whichamounted to 4.72 percent,Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The number of poor people in South Kalimantan until March 2016 is 195,700 spread in 13 counties and cities in the province, as recorded by Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
BPS South Kalimantan head Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Friday said that the number of poor is equivalent to 4.85 percent of the 3.9 million total population of South Kalimantan.
"The poverty rate in state of March 2016 recorded 4.85 percent, up 0.13 percent compared to the poor in September 2015 whichamounted to 4.72 percent," she said.
195,700 poor population was composed of 60,830 people who live in urban areas and other 134,870 people live in rural areas.
Poor rate in urban in March 2016 decreased by 0.79 percent when compared to September 2015. While in rural areas increased by 0.83 percent.
"During the semester, the addition of 6,540 poor people with the details of the urban poor is reduced 11,700 people and in rural areas increased 18,200," she said.
The role of food commodities to the Poverty Line (PL) is still greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education and health).
"The role of food commodities to the poverty line is still greater than the non-food commodities, which is 71.76 percent in March 2016," she said.
According to her, the food commodities that have a relatively large role in determining the poverty line were rice, cigarette filters, wet cake, eggs, instant noodles and sugar.
Meanwhile, non-food commodities that have a relatively large role were house rent, fuel, water, electricity, education and toiletry items.
