Kandangan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A major fire occurred in Baruh Jaya Village, Sub-district of South Daha, South Hulu Sungai. Fire engulfed eight of citizens houses and a place of worship, on Monday (20/6) at 14:50 pm.


HSS Police Chief AKBP Sukendar Eka Restiyan Putra through the Head of Public Relations Iptu Agus Winartono described eight homes destroyed by the fire were at Jalan Sungai Bagandi RT 14, Baruh Jaya Village. The fire was extinguished at 17:00 pm by CPC Nagara.

He explained that the fire originated from a house of Asbun (45 years), a farmer who lived in the local village. According to witness, Khadijah (32), Asbun house was empty and abandoned by the owner to work in the fields.

"According to witness, the fire allegedly originated from Asbun's empty house that have been abandoned by it owner for a week with electric lights lit up. The witness saw the origin of the fire from the roof of the house," he said.

From the testimony of the witness, the fire allegedly came from short circuit. As a result of these fires, several families homeless. Losses were estimated at Rp720 million.

A local resident, Boernot Nagara, explained some of the families who lost their homes, among others Jamhari 6 KK (families), Aliansyah 4 KK, Haji Lamnun 4 KK, Asbon 7 KK, Rahmat 5 KK, Hj Faridah 5 KK, Kacit 4 KK and Aban three families with a total of 8 homes residents 100 percent broken and one langgar (worship place) 30 percent damage.
