Director PD IPAL Banjarmasi Rahmatullah on the sidelines of Training of Trainers (TOT) Socialization Team and Preparation Wastewater Infrastructure Development Community on Wednesday said the company was tasked to reduce domestic waste contamination, particularly faeces.
"We want human waste in the form of feces no longer plunging directly into the river, but it must be processed first so that the waste is not harmful if it flows into the river," said Rahmatullah.
Banjarmasin is known as a city of rivers and asdriving the economy in the form of tourist attraction. "How can the river be like that if it is not clean, not only by rubbish, but by human fecal contamination itself," he said.
Moreover, based on the fact feces containing billions of harmful microbes, such as coli bacteria that can cause diarrhea, tiphy Salmonella bacteria that cause typhoid.
Other bacteria in the stool is vibrio cholerae which causes cholera and the presence of viral hepatitis and polio. In addition, feces containing eggs whipworm, roundworm, hookworm and pinworm eggs.
Every human being is based on research produces 250 grams of faeces per person per day. "Just imagine that Banjarmasin inhabited by 750 thousand population, how many stools production. If it is not in the proper disposal, it will pollute the river, very dangerous," he said.
