Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's flag carrier Garuda Indonesia and its subsidiary, Citilink, have prepared 1.2 million flight seats for domestic and international routes for the Eid 2023 homecoming and return flow on April 15 (D-7) to April 30 (D+8).
Garuda Indonesia would provide 518,856 seats by operating a number of wide-body aircraft, including the Airbus A330-900; Airbus A330-300; and Boeing 777-300ER.
"Meanwhile, Citilink will prepare 722,080 seats and operate its Airbus A320-200 fleet," President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra said in an official statement received in Jakarta, Sunday.
Meanwhile, Garuda Indonesia's flight capacity will be optimized on a number of routes that have high demand, including Jakarta - Padang, Jakarta - Semarang, Jakarta - Solo, Jakarta - Yogyakarta, and Jakarta - Denpasar.
This step is also aligned with the increase in the frequency of international flights to Singapore, Amsterdam, Seoul, and Bangkok.
Setiaputra said, the availability of Garuda Indonesia Group flight seats during this year's Eid period recorded a 45 percent increase compared to the peak season in 2022.
This year's Eid is one of the most awaited moments by the people of Indonesia, especially during the pandemic transition.
Therefore, he said, readiness from upstream to downstream flight operations will continue to be improved through intensive coordination with airport stakeholders, consistent implementation of excellent service and operations of the Garuda Indonesia Group.
Setiaputra added, Garuda Indonesia as a state-owned airline together with its subsidiary Citilink ensures that people's accessibility to air transportation services can run optimally.
Garuda Indonesia Group would also periodically monitor and anticipate the need for extra flights which will later be prepared according to people's movements ahead of the holiday.
