Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The District Government of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, supports the national program "Cities Without Slums" (Kotaku) for the realization of livable, productive and sustainable urban settlements.


Second Assistant of Regional Secretariat Kotabaru H Akhmad Rivai after attending a National Workshop and Socialization of Cities Without Slums Program in Jakarta on Sunday said Kotabaru highly appreciates and supports the program.

"Kotaku Program as part of the settlement area development program in the National Middle-Term Development Plan ( RPJMN ) for 2015-2019 target to achieve alleviation of urban slums to 0 percent through addressing slum area covering 38,431 hectares," he said in a press release.

To realize the plan of handling slum district government to allocate adequate budget source from the local budget, and other sources, (the central government, provincial government, public self-help, the private sector through corporate social responsibility, non-governmental organizations and universities).

"Thus, the target reduction of urban slums to 0 percent in the region can be realized," said the former head of Cipta Karya (Human Settlements and Housing) Agency.
