From the sale of only three nights fishing our family earned Rp10 million,
Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Fishermen in Kotabaru district, South Kalimantan, having harvest with abundant catches.

"From the sale of only three nights fishing our family earned Rp10 million," said Akhmad Qomarudin in Kotabaru, Saturday.

The abundance of the catch this time is unprecedented in the last five years.

"Usually the catch of bilis or anchovies, squid and other fish are pretty much for three days or at most a week, but this time it was more than a month catches continue," he said.

Because not familiar with catches continuously over a month, some fishermen raised a question mark, why catches always good.

Qomarudin said with good results mostly fishermen in Sarangtiung, Kotabaru, bought new two-wheeled vehicles.

"Let us come to the village of Sarangtiung, almost every new vehicle overhang there is from the fishing on the bagan (fishermen structure to catch fish)," said Qomarudin.

Previously, Abdul Mulud, Sarangtiung Village Head, North Pulaulaut, Kotabaru, said the number of fishing structure(bagan) scattered in the Kotabaru waters in the last few years continues to decrease, after the ban on felling of mangrove trees in the reserve forest.

Since the ban on logging of mangrove in mangrove forests, fisherman have trouble to build the chart (bagan).

"Logging mangrove forest nature reserve is prohibited, whereas bagan poles use mangrove wood and sea wood," said Mulud.

According to the bagan census around 2004, the number of bagan in Sarangtiung and Gedambaan as many as 715. Once there is mangrove logging bans, the number continues to shrink from year to year.

"Currently only about 500 bagan. The number of bagan currently using wood, bamboo and others," he said.
