Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin City Government in cooperation with the River Center of South and Central Kalimantan held mud lifting competition to increase community participation in the maintenance of the river.


The competition was opened by Mayor Ibnu Sina on Saturday. Mayor was proud of the enthusiasm of people participated in the competition held in a series of Earth Day 2016.

According to Ibnu Sina, Banjarmasin as the city of rivers is determined to make river as a community living as well as the economic driver. Some 102 rivers divides the city of about 800 thousand inhabitants.

All five sub-districts in the city took part in the contest. They were divided into 60 teams. Each team consists of seven people counted by the number of how much mud to be lifted with rattan basket into the truck.

In addition to how much the amount of silt lifted into 60 trucks also how much waste is cleaned in a designated location in a race which involving the TNI.

A team who win will gain the prize money of Rp6 million, while the team who have not managed to be receiving cash assistance amounting to Rp700 thousand.
