In religion we are taught, during an eclipse of the sun and moon, to conduct a prayer as to remember the greatness of Allah,Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Residents of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, crowded mosques for solar eclipse praying, one of which was visible in Grand Mosque of Sabilal Muhtadin, Wednesday.
Thousands of prayers filled till the yard of the biggest mosque in provincial capital. The eclipse prayer started at 07.30 am.
The worship which was lead by imam KH Husin Nafarin and Head of South Kalimantan Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs HM Tambrin as a khatib (preacher) was attended by the Mayor Ibnu Sina and other local government officials.
"In religion we are taught, during an eclipse of the sun and moon, to conduct a prayer as to remember the greatness of Allah," said HM Tambrin in his sermon.
According to him, the Prophet taught things to do during an eclipse, namely shalat (prayer), doa (pray), istighfar, charity, takbir, and the freeing of slave.
South Kalimantan is one of the provinces in Indonesia which could see the natural phenomenon of solar eclipse. Total eclipse can be seen at three points, namely in North Hulu Sungai, Tabalong, and Balangan.
"While in Banjarmasin City is only about 85 percent of the solar eclipse," said Mayor.
According to him, mosques in Banjarmasin holding eclipse prayer to welcome this rare phenomenon.
Mayor after the eclipse prayer at the Grand Mosque of Sabilal Muhtadin joined thousands of citizens witnessed the rare natural phenomenon.
