One Save Bekantan member team of SBI Ferry Hoesien via cell phone from the location Km 17, Thursday night said to AntaranewsKalsel after receiving reports from local residents about the incident bekantan hit by a car, team directly came to evacuate.
"But the reality on the ground is not easy to evacuate the protected long nosed animals," said Ferry.
He explained that the evacuation by the SBI using three ways. The first system using anesthetic firing, but it was ineffective and costly reach Rp4 million.
The second system is a trap, but after entering the trap proboscis monkey could run again. While the last way to use some sort of nylon rope and wire mesh fence.
Ferry explained for the last two ways SBI should bring in an expert from Dayak Meratus already experienced in capture bekantan without hurting.
According to Feri on evacuation at Km 17, the Save Bekantan team assisted by several foreign nationals, namely from Germany, Canada, Portugal and New Zealand, they go straight to the field, helping to make traps and others.
Bekantan at Km 17 initially numbered about 22, somehow the last few weeks the animal that often took to the streets. Even they often cross the road, while two and four-wheeled vehicles often passing in high speed because of quiet and away from the village.

Of 22 proboscis monkey, only three can be evacuated. Once given the treatment and considered able to live in the wild they will be released on the Bakut Island.
"There are already some proboscis that we loose to wild life and has been breeding, and we continue to monitor," said Feri hoping their last attempt to evacuate the proboscis at Km 17 successfully.
