Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of Manpower and Transmigration Agency Antonius Simbolon said Acting Governor of South Kalimantan Tarmizi A Karim expects companies to refrain from layoffs due to weak economic growth in the region.
"The governor has issued an appeal for the company not to conduct layoffs (PHK) while waiting for the economy to recover," said Antony in Banjarmasin on Thursday.
Even if forced to make layoffs, he said, the company expected to pay employees' rights in full, as the established provisions, among others, severance appropriate working period.
Currently, he said, the central government is preparing various regulations to ease the burden on companies, among others, by reducing taxes.
"Of course the government provides various regulations that could ease the burden on the company, so they do not have to do layoffs," he said.
According to Antony, compared to other areas , wave of layoffs in South Kalimantan is relatively low, but that does not mean the province have no the potential to be affected by the weakening of the regional economy.
"The potential of a massive layoffs is still possible, so we prepared a variety of regulations to anticipate this," he said.
Previously, when a speaking in the public relations dialogue along with the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) here on Wednesday (28/10), Antony said the weakening of rupiah is now increasingly slow down the recovery of mining industry and plantations in South Kalimantan.
These conditions make some companies, especially mining and plantation not to extend employees contract. As a result, now thousands of workers lost their jobs in South Kalimantan thereby increasing regional unemployment.
