Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati toll road could help develop an economic growth triangle in West Java, deputy minister for public works and public housing (PUPR), John Wempi Wetipo, has said.
"This toll road will be able to support the development of the West Java economic growth triangle, namely Patimban Port in Subang District, Kertajati Airport in Majalengka District, and industrial areas in Bekasi, Karawang, and Purwakarta," Wetipo noted in a written statement received here on Monday.
The existence of the BIJB Kertajati and the Cisumdawu toll roads will also support connectivity to the airport by reducing travel time from Bandung to one hour, he informed.
"This toll road is a part of the Cikampek-Palimanan toll road, which has been operating for a long time," he said.
The BIJB Kertajati toll road, which is connected to the Cikampek-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road, officially became operational on Monday.
Wetipo tapped an e-toll card at the Kertajati Utama Toll Gate, formally opening the BIJB Kertajati toll road to the public, especially from the West Java area.

Meanwhile, head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the PUPR Ministry, Danang Parikesit, said that the toll road serves as an important link to the Cipali Toll Road and is an important symbol of the integration of various types of infrastructures.
"The connection between the toll road infrastructure and BIJB Kertajati toll road is a symbol of planned and integrated infrastructure. It is hoped that the integration of these two infrastructures will increase regional competitiveness, economy, logistics, and increase the growth of new economic tourism in the Rebana area in West Java," Parikesit added.
The BIJB Kertajati toll road's operation has been determined by on the Decree of the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Number 1514/KPTS/M/2021 concerning the Establishment of the Operation of the BIJB Kertajati Toll Road as part of the Cikampek-Palimanan Toll Road and the Decree of the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Number 1515/KPTS/M/2021 concerning the Determination of the Types of Vehicles and the Amount of the BIBJ Kertajati Toll Road rate as part of the Cikampek-Palimanan Toll Road.
The BIJB Kertajati toll road section is being managed by toll road corporation (BUJT) PT Astra Tol Cipali, which also operates the Cipali Toll Road. PT Acset Indonusa Tbk is the acting contractor for the project valued at Rp692 billion.
