Paringin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Balangan Prosecutor's Office (Kejari) launched a shuttle car ready to serve inmate's family program (SIKAPI) to pick up prisoners' families who want to visit their families in prisons.
Head of Balangan Prosecutor's Office La Kanna said this innovation is the first in Indonesia aimed at making it easier for inmates' families to visit families in prison. The reason is all Balangan inmates are imprisoned in the neighboring district, North Hulu Sungai (HSU).
"We made this innovation to help families of inmates who cannot visit their families because of financial problems, especially in difficult conditions now. This service is free of charge, we even bear the consumption on the trip," said La Kanna in Paringin, Friday.
As for conditions, the inmate's family must have a COVID vaccine certificate, at least the first dose.
The reason is to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, especially during the service, whereas the program is only available in Balangan.
"We hope this program can be a pilot project for prosecutor's office throughout Indonesia," he hoped.
Meanwhile, the SIKAPI car service is scheduled for Thursday or Friday or at least once a week.
"Families of inmates who want to visit their families, please come to Balangan Kejari to report, but on condition that they have been vaccinated," he said.
