Barabai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District Government has planned to build a flood control regulation pool in the river between Mandingin Village in Barabai Sub-district and Aluan Sumur Village in Batu Benawa sub-district.

"The source of funds is the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) worth IDR280 billion for a 52-hectare physical building," said acting District Secretary Muhammad Yani when confirmed by Antaranews Monday (Sept 6, 2021) in Barabai.

The physical construction is estimated to be 2022, he said, as the land acquisition process is still in progress.

"Today we have a meeting to form an independent land acquisition team involving BPN and appraisal team," said Yani.

Of the 52 hectares, he said, about 202 plots of land have to be acquired. 126 plots are in Mandingin Village and 72 plots in Aluan Sumur Village.

"However, there is still one plot of land still in problem in Mandingin Village. Insya Allah (God Willing) we will solve it in a week," kata Yani.

The budget is IDR25 billion to 30 billion, but the HST budget capacity is only about IDR13 billion. "To cover the shortfall we asked the provincial government to assist and we have communicated it," he said.

He emphasized that the regulation pool can reduce the risk of flood and reduce the increase of water from flowing into the city. In dry season, it can be used to irrigate agriculture land.
