Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Steam-fueled Power Plant Sigam development in Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, is almost completed and is now awaiting fund from Central PLN to complete its construction.
"Currently physical progress has reached 82 percent," said General Manager of PT PLN Induk IX, Adi Lumakso, in coordination meeting with the Kotabaru government on Thursday.
He explained that the Sigam power plant funds originally comes from the state budget, but was later transferred into the budget of Central PLN. The initial target, the 2X7 megaWatt power plant is to be
completed at the end of 2014.
According to Adi, to accelerate the decline in the fund it need help from Regency Kotabaru to send a letter to the Central PLN regarding Sigam settlement funds.
Regent Kotabaru H Irhami Ridjani said a letter will soon be sent to the PLN. "We will soon send a letter to the President Director of PLN with a copy to Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in the hope Sigam budget completion can be disbursed," he said in a press release.
In a coordination meeting between PLN Balikpapan and the government of Kotabaru here also discussed plans to develop submarine cable, which will enable increasing the power up to 100 MW.
Regent Kotabaru welcomed the plan and hoped that the survey be conducted. "We need to synchronize the related construction of the cable to avoid collisions with the plan to build a bridge that connects the Pulaulaut and Kalimantan," said Irhami.
