Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Library and Archives Agency (Dispersip) will hold a talk show on Wednesday (Oct 21, 2020) with a theme "Anggrek Nusantara" or Orchids of the Archipelago to raise one of the country's biodiversity.
Here, said the head of the agency Nurliani, the wealth, beauty, and the potential of orchid to be dug up for the welfare of the nation.
"The theme of the virtual talk show is to fulfill the request of the public and plant lovers, especially orchid," Bunda Nunung (Nurliani's nickname) noted in her press statement, Sunday.
Indonesia has about 5,000 species of orchid. Around 2,000 to 3,000 of them grow in Kalimantan.
"The natural wealth and biodiversity of Indonesia are one of the environmental aspects that are very important to be preserved. One of them is orchid which is widely planted," she said.

As scheduled, the talk show will present three speakers, the first lecturer of Plant Biotechnology from the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) Dewi Sukma, who will talk about the use and development of orchid.
Second, lecturer in Agronomi, who also Head of Tissue Culture Laboratory of the ULM's Faculty of Agriculture, to present the diversity, beauty, and potential of Kalimantan orchids.
Third, the owner of Sahaja Orchids Bandung, who is also a lecturer of Agrotechnologiy at Winaya Mukti University (Unwim) Sumedang Romiyadi to discuss cultivation techniques and the opportunity to succeed in the orchid business.
Meanwhile, the moderator is a researcher of Diffusion and Technology Transfer of the Banjar Regency's Food Crops and Horticulture Agency who also a plant practitioner.
