Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Sudden inspection by joint team of the Banjarbaru Government found a number of expired food and drink, unworthy of consumption, then confiscated them.
The joint team led by Deputy Mayor Ogi Fajar Nuzuli conducted inspection at three minimarket and supermarkets in three different locations on Thursday.
At one of the minimarkets, the team found snacks running low on time so the manager asked not to display them.
From that spot, the team moved towards the Giant supermarket at Banjarbaru Plaza shopping complex located in Simpang Empat area, but did not find any items that expire or are not feasible.
At the third place, team found a number of items that have been damaged packaging so it is not suitable for consumption. Types of items found were canned fish and milk broken on the packaging and was unfeasible consumption, so confiscated to be destroyed.
"We will send a warning letter to the manager of the minimarket for the findings of related items and asked them not to display them again, "said Head of Banjarbaru Trade and Industry Agency, Suriansyah.
According to Suriansyah, confiscation of damaged packaging goods is part of an effort to protect consumers so as not to consume the have been damaged goods.
