Paringin , South Kalimantan ( AntaraNews ) - State-run plantation company PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) XIII is not letting off 194 casual workers and 42 permanent employees of Special Nucleus Estate Smallholders (Pirsus) Afdeling II Paringin, who lose their jobs.

PTPN Tambarangan Estate Manager (who oversees Pirsus II), Priyo Harjono, here on Wednesday said PTPN have fulfilled its obligations.

"As a form of corporate responsibility, to the casual workers have been offered indemnity amounting to Rp65 thousand per day starting from May 22 until May 31, 2014," he said.

In addition to the compensation, it give an offer to work again with the same status in the PTPN Tambarangan.

Previously, on May 22, 2014, PTPN XIII transfer the land concession of Pirsus II Afdeling Paringin covering 2,071 hectares to the national coal mining company, PT Adaro Indonesia.

All plantation activities stopped abruptly thus making the 194 casual workers and 42 permanent employees of Pirsus II losing jobs.

According to him , to the 42 full-time employees also offered to continue working with PTPN in another district or retire early.
