Rantau, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The district government of Tapin will prepare 3.000 rapid test kits to conduct a mass COVID-19 screening in the local area.
"We have ordered 3.000 rapid test kits to come in early June," said Tapin Regent HM Arifin Arpan in Rantau, Monday (May 18, 2020), while monitoring the integrated post of COVID-19 prevention in Sungai Puting Village, CLU Sub-district.
The using of kits, he said, will be focused on testing government employees (ASN), police, TNI (military), and traders at the district capital's market.
"For traders, we will do a rapid test on some traders first, maybe 50 as simple and as a first step," he said.
Previously, Director of the District Hospital of Datu Sanggul Dr Milhan explained, the antibody based-kits (rapid test) is a screening method to detect antibody, but cannot be used as a reference whether someone is positive for COVID-19.
"To know (if someone) positive or not, a throat swab test is needed," he said.
