Banjarmasin , ( Antaranews.Kalsel ) - Heavy duty cranes used to build a flyover at Jalan Ahmad Yani Km 3 and 4 broke and fell onto the highway.
The accident occurred on Saturday (22/2) afternoon at around 15:30 pm . It fell onto the highway and caused injury to two driver on the road.
The victims were immediately rushed to the Police Hospitals Hoegeng Imam Santoso to get medical treatment.
Motorists who fell victim were husband and wife, Arbain (72) and Halimatus Sa`diyah (67). Both suffered injuries. Arbaeen injury to his right hand and bruises on the chest, while his wife was wounded in the left hand.
After getting treatment in the hospital for a while, they were both allowed to go home, because of the wounds must not be so serious.
Meanwhile, the heavy equipment that fell into the highway resulted in a total jam on Jalan Ahmad Yani Km 3 way out of town. Congestion occured in Jalan Manggis, Jalan Veteran, Jalan Gatot Subroto and Jalan Pramuka.
Field supervision of contractor PT PP , Ruswandi said heavy equipment would be used when the crane is checked. But the crash happened during operation, and fracture of the crane was the first time in the construction of flyover in Banjarmasin.
The stake crane broke while playing and want to lift piles for the construction of the flyover. PT PP suspect, it caused by imbalanced and when lifting was too unbalanced to the right so that the crane broken.
"Over this incident, we apologize to the public and the motorists on the road that crossed the path of development of this overpass," said Ruswandi.
