Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - City Government of Banjarbaru continue the setup program of Kemuning River to prevent flooding due to overflowing water river that divides the city.

Head of Planning and Regional Development Agency (Bappeda) of Banjarbaru Said Abdullah here on Wednesday said the Setup program is by freeing the left and right side along the river channel from Sungai Besar Bridge to Kembar Bridge in the lower reaches of the river along 2.1 kilometers.

Funds for acquisition to left and right sides of the river each 5 meter was Rp1 billion in 2013 and continued in 2014 amounted to Rp2 billion used as ex-gratia for the loading and transport of the building owned by residents.

"The fund is derived from the local budget (APBD)," he said, accompanied by Secretary of Bappeda Rahma Khairita. He said, ex-gratia fund included riverbanks backfill submitted to the Institute for Community Empowerment (LPM), so that the work could be done independently.

There are four urban areas crossed by the flow of the river that divides the city: Sungai Besar Village, Guntung Paikat Village, Kemuning and Loktabat Selatan Village.

"Each village was given funds to backfill Rp200 million, so the left and right side along the river channel can be 
freed while setup program could be implemented in phases," he said.

Left and right side of the river channel has been further solidified and made ​​diuruk lane roads using paving blocks, so that it could be a place to relax and open green spaces.
