Tanjung, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - To reduce anemia or iron deficiency among teenage girls, Tabalong Health Office (Dinkes) distributed iron tablet for free to 200 junior high school students.

Head of Health Services of Tabalong's Dinkes, Khairuddin, said on Friday at Tanjung, the distribution of free iron tablet for female students is a program of the Ministry of Health and Tabalong as one of the pilot districts for theprevention of anemia.

"Tablets to add blood given expected to be actually consumed fairly considering the benefits in preventing anemia or iron deficiency," said Khairuddin.

Counseling prevention of anemia among adolescent girls delivered by nutritionist of Tabalong origin, Catur Yuda 
Murtopo. In front of hundreds of junior high school students in Tabalong, he remind them that anemia is one of the common conditions in pregnant women and young women due to iron deficiency .

"In a number of countries, including Indonesia , anemia contributing to maternal mortality reached 23 percent. So, teenage girls since their early must eat nutritious food and contain iron," said Yuda.
