Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The Banjarmasin Lemkari won the overall champion in Danlanal VII/2013 Cup karate championship held in Banjarmasin on November 28 to 30.
Banjarmasin Naval Base Commander, Marine Lt. Col.(P) Datu Rusman here on Saturday appreciated Banjarmasin Lemkari successful achievement as an overall winner for seven times in the championship which was started in 2006.
Banjarmasin Lemkari is also the defending champion at the same time are able to retain the trophy in a Kalimantan Karate championship. Banjarmasin Lemkari's overall winner after obtaining 15 gold medals, 13 silver, and seven bronze.
Championship was participated by around 351 Lemkari athletes from all over Kalimantan and took place at Gelangang Olahraga (GOR) Hasanuddin Banjarmasin.
Second prize won by Kotabaru's Lemkari who got 13 golds medals, six silver and 16 bronze. While third place was held by South Hulu Sungai, which obtained three gold, four silver, and three bronze.
"The championship is to multiply the potential of karate for young men and women to search for a new karate seeds. Moreover it was to preserve friendship between Lemkari (school of Karate) all over Kalimantan," he said when closing the championship.
Datu said, Danlanal Cup routinely conducted every year was attended by about 20 contingents (Lemkari) in Kalimantan. He hoped the Kalimantan karatekas can perform nationally and internationally.
