Marabahan, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent Hj Noormiliyani AS saw-off one thousand cyclists who took part in the Tour de Barito Kuala 2019 cycle race, Sunday morning (Dec 8, 2019).
From the one thousand participants, 539 were registered online and the other 253 offline. Mountain Bike (MTB) race seem to be most favored race participated by 792 cyclists, while 208 others took Road Bike (RB).
They came from districts and cities in South Kalimantan, including the Barito Kuala (Batola) itself, Banjarmasin, Banjar, Banjarbaru, Tanah Laut, Tapin, Tabalong and South Hulu Sungai.
But cyclists from East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, West Java, central Java, and Jambi were also coming to race. The mostly raced in RB.
RB with age category of 17-30 year, 31-45, and 46-60 to cover a distance of 117 kilometer and all cyclist had to pass 11 sub-districts, including two bridges, which are the icon of the district, Barito Bridge and Rumpiang Bridge.
Here they had three stages of race, namely Wanaraya, SMP 1 Mandastana, and SDN Sungai Bamban.

While MTB stretching a distance of 30 kilometers from the regent's office to Jalan sudirman, Senin Barambai Market, Jalan Tinggiran, Saka Gunung, Sungai Sangkai, Dahirang, AES Nasution, to finish at the regent's office. The roads in general cross country composition and only about 10 percent of the trek is paved.
Regent Hj Noormiliyani AS together with Deputy Regent H Rahmadian Noor, Batola DPRD Speaker Saleh, Acting District Secretary H Abdul Manaf and members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) took part in the race.
Tour de Barito Kuala was enthusistically welcomed, especially for the attractive prize, such as a Honda Brio car for winner of RB age category of 17 – 30, one Yamaha NMAX for winner in category of 31 – 45 year, and one Honda Scoopy for 46 – 60 year category.
In addition, the Batola government also prepared door prizes for MTB and RB in the form of one Yamaha Mio, 19 mountain bikes, and two flat TV.
Regent Hj Noormiliyani hoped Tour de Barito Kuala will increasingly introduce the district to the outside people, especially to its potentials, including tourism potential.
To participants she welcomed them to enjoy the hospitality of the local people to bring home a good story that Barito Kuala was cool and bahalap (good).
