Rantau, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The construction of Tapin Dam in Pipitak Jaya Village, Piani Sub-district, Tapin, South Kalimantan, which is a National Strategic Project (PSN), has reached 95 percent of completion.
The Regent of Tapin HM Arifin Arpan here on Saturday (Nov 16, 2019) remarked that the dam, which is planned to be inaugurated by President of the Republic of Indonesia, has almost completed.
"At this time only the construction of irrigation of the dam has not been built yet to divide water supply," he said.

The dam has been built since 2015 with the aim to support food security and to control flood. It is planned to be completed by the end of 2019.
With the planned capacity of 56.77 cubic meter, the dam will be able to irrigate 5.472 hectares of land

"In addition for the need of agriculture and flood control, the dam also function as a power plant and tourism. It is planned to become a hydropower plant with a capacity of 3.30 megawatt," he pointed out.

The regent expected the inauguration of the dam, which is about 30 km from Rantau the capital of Tapin, would be done by the President Joko widodo.

"We try to coordinate for the inauguration of Tapin Dam in 2020 later to be done directly by the President," he said after attending Upsus siwap 2019 event in Suato Lama Village, Salam Babaris Sub-district, Saturday.
