BPOM to Check Yellow Rice Dyes

Banjarmasin, 6/6 (Antaranews, South Kalimantan) - Secretary of the South Kalimantan Provincial Administration Arsyadi hope the local food and drug administration (BPOM) examine yellow rice dye to avoid the possibility of the use of dyes that are not for food.

"The average citizen of South Kalimantan breakfast with yellow rice, so it did not rule out the use of these dyes is not for the designation," said Arsyadi in Banjarmasin, Thursday.

According to him, it did not rule out the vendors compete to be able to attract customers with attractive colors, such as bright yellow or other more and feared to choose substances that actually harm consumers.

Arsyadi statement, responding to the cooperation between the provincial government with the BPOM in the eradication of food, drugs and cosmetics dangerous now rife in South Kalimantan.

South Kalimantan is one area that a potential market for illicit narcotics, drugs or illegal, harmful foods and cosmetics that contain mercury and other harmful substances. To protect the public, the government and the BPOM and other stakeholders, is committed to eradicate through the various programs that have been implemented.

BPOM chief  Dewi Prawitasari revealed on Wednesday (5/6) it had carried out the destruction of thousands of types of medicines, food, and cosmetics that contain harmful substances. The goods destroyed were consisting of 615 items, a 20 thousand more beauty product packaging, food packaging 27 items, 385 items of drugs and 172 illegal traditional medicine.
