Barabai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The district government of central Hulu Sungai (HST) together with the local police declared Hawang Village in Limpasu Sub-district as free from forest and land fires, Wednesday (28/8).
HST Police Chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Sabana Atmojo said the intent and purpose of this declaration was in the context of readiness, equalizing and uniting the determination to work together to help one another in preventing and overcoming forest and land fires in 2019.
"Our commitment together is Hawang Village was chosen as a pilot of forest and land fires free, because all its citizens are aware of the losses caused," he said.
Limpasu District has an area of 77.49 km², the characteristics of the Limpasu area consist of plantations and agriculture.
The police chief said that forest and land fires would cause huge state losses, thus affecting national economic growth and Indonesia would get a negative view of the world.
The 1002 Barabai Military Commander (Dandim) Lt Col. Inf Nur Rohman Zein expressed his appreciation to the HST Police Chief for the declaration of a forest fire-free village.
"Prevention of forest and land fires requires the involvement of all parties and all elements of society to participate in order to suppress the fires in the HST for the sake of fertility and the people's prosperity," he said.
HST Regent H A Chairansyah also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the HST Police and all parties who also supported the implementation of this activity.
"The declaration of the forest and land fire free in Hawang village is one of our efforts in preventing forest and land fire through the coordination of integrity, commitment and strong concern from all parties, especially in Murakata (HST)," said the Regent.
