Banjarmasin (Antaranews South Kalimantan) - South Kalimantan Central Bureau of Statistics said economic growth in the province in the first quarter (January-March) in 2013 decreased compared to the fourth quarter (October-December) of 2012.
"Economic growth in South Kalimantan in first quarter of 2013 dropped 7.79 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2012 (q-to-q)," said BPS Chief Iskandar Zulkarnain, Banjarmasin, Monday.
Decline in economic growth in the province, which covers 13 districts/municipalities, that for the first quarter of 2013 occurred in several sectors of the economy and the highest in the agricultural sector (-22.25 percent). Then the building sector (-9.75 percent) and trade, hotel and restaurant (-8.52 percent).
Growth in the agricultural sector declined sharply as a reflection of the rice harvest cycle. In addition, due to the inclusion of the harvest yet, although farmers in some counties and cities have no harvest in small amounts.
Decline in the agricultural sector is mainly due to the food crops subsector fell by 50.71 per cent, as well as several other subsectors decreased varied.
But the economy of South Kalimantan in first quarter of 2013 compared to the first quarter of 2012 grew by 5.56 percent, with the highest growth in the financial sector, leasing and business services by 10.23 percent.
While the lowest growth in the first quarter 2013 compared to first quarter of 2012 in the mining and quarrying sector at 2.40 per cent.
From the use of the trigger economic growth first quarter of 2013 is negative, ie components of government consumption and gross fixed capital formation, respectively dropped 17.57 percent and 10.13 percent.
"Compared to the same quarter in 2012 almost all of the components use positive growth except for imports," said Iskandar.
