Banjarmasin, (Antaranews, South Kalimantan) - Chairman of the South Kalimantan Parliament Nasib Alamsyah advised the city government (municipal) of Banjarmasin to implement local regulations on houses on stage to avoid flooding.

His suggestion was conveyed in a conversation with members of the South Kalimantan Community Parliament Journalist (JPC) in Banjarmasin, Tuesday, regarding the condition of the provincial capital. Because when heavy rain lasted for two hours, Banjarmasin city --which dubbed a thousand river-- was flooded.

Causes of flood was geographical. Banjarmasin is under sea level, besides the drainage system is not functioning optimally. While diminishing watershed, because the system development. Every residential building or buildings, land was always stockpiled.

Therefore, the retired Colonel Infantry believes it is a necessity for the Government to implement legislation house on stage in a pure and consistent. " Banjarmasin already have legislation houses on stage, then it has to be applied sooner. Never be late or hoarded lands or buildings always and continue to grow," he advised.

Banjarmasin used to be flooded every time it rains lasted two hours, especially in certain areas, such as around Jalan Lambung Mangkurat, Pangeran Samudera and Jalan Hasanuddin HM. Moreover if the heavy rains coincide with the tide, making the height of the water in the streets disturbing the smooth traffic within the city.
