Martapura, (Antaranews, South Kalimantan) - Banjar regency government won a national award thanks arisan latrine which was considered as a strategic step increasing healthy lifestyle community.
Release of Public Relations from Banjar Regency received by Antara on Wednesday said the award handed by the President's special envoy for MDGs Nila FA Moeloek to Regent Banjar Khairul Saleh at the Conrad Hotel, Bali, on Tuesday.
"This award is an honor because it represents Banjar Regency South Kalimantan and only 44 regions from across Indonesia were received from 661 programs run MDGs," said the regent.
He said the award could not be achieved without the support of the community with a range of Banjar regency together actively enhance a healthy lifestyle through the latrines arisan (regular social gathering).
Mentioned, the number of latrines in the settlements, especially in the area of river bank Martapura still quite a lot and are gradually eliminated through a program implemented since 2008.
Since the latrine arisan program implemented up to now, the number of latrines that are along the river pretty much reduced so cleanliness along the river is awake. While gathering latrine program will be expanded in a number of districts settlements located along the river so that the higher the level of public health in the absence of latrines.
