South Kalimantan's National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) provides nutritious food and nutrition assistance for 30 pregnant women in Tabalong District.
Head of South Kalimantan Baznas HG Rusdi Effendie said that assistance was given for six months for mothers with a gestational age of 3 to 5 months.
"This assistance is part of the assistance program and health services for pregnant women conducted by Baznas South Kalimantan," explained Rusdi.
For nutritious food and nutrition assistance worth Rp.3.3 million will be given every month, including health checks for pregnant women.
Baznas South Kalimantan also provides assistance for labor (childbirth) costs of Rp1 million per person.
One of the beneficiaries, Candra Ari Santi (31), a resident of Jalan Pandan Arum, Murung Pudak Subdistrict, said that she was enough-helped by the South Kalimantan Baznas program.
The mother of two children was selected to receive assistance given the poor economic condition of the family and her husband does not have a permanent job.
The Chairperson of Baznas Tabalong Mardani said that the recipients of the assistance were prioritized from poor families.
"The Baznas team lists beneficiaries directly with priority from poor families," explained Mardani.
