Regent Hj Noormiliyani AS said the Barito Kuala District Government was trying to maintain the status of the city of Adipura for a second time by carrying out various actions.
"We have launched the green movement to coincide with the commemoration of the 2019 National Trash Day recently," Regent Barito Kuala (Batola) Hj Noormiliyani said on Tuesday.
According to her, the green movement conducted by the district government included the declaration of five adiwiyata (environmentally cultured) schools in each sub-district, and built five garbage bank groups in each sub-district.
The use of plastic bags is limited according to Regent Regulation No. 68/2018, offices are made environmentally friendly, healthy and environmentally friendly canteens are provided, bottled drinking water is replaced by the use of tumbler and plastic bag with environmentally friendly bags.
Regency government also manages household and similar waste according to Regulation No.56 / 2018.
"What we are doing is not only pursuing the Adipura award, but really in accordance with the pro-environment policy direction (green leadership)," she said.
Meanwhile, the Environmental Impact Control Officer of the South Kalimantan Environment Agency said that the Adipura program is one of the strategies in environmental management that aims to improve the performance of local governments and encourage community participation in creating a clean and shady city.
While the criteria and indicators, he said, are waste management, green open space management, control of water pollution, air, forest and land fires, mine damage, and the application of Jakstrada.
