Utilization rusunawa (low-cost rental apartments) built by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) in the Fisheries Complex of Dirgahayu Village, North Pulau Laut Subdistrict, Kotabaru, is still awaiting handover from the center.

Head of Kotabaru's Public Housing, Settlement and Housing Agency Selamat Riyadi here on Sunday said the agency is still waiting to hand over the three-story building.

"Some time ago a team from the province came to do a review as part of the preparation for handover," he said.

While waiting, his party prepared a regent's regulation regarding the management of the flat, including the conditions for becoming residents and the rental rate.

Since the beginning the rusunawa was built to relocate residents living in a large barracks for victims of the 1993 fire in Dirgahayu Village, North Pulau Laut.

Relocation is done because the settlement is located on state-owned land, as well as an effort to overcome the problem of slums.

"One hundred percent occupancy for residents of the barracks, but under certain conditions can be changed as needed," said Selamat.
