Kotabaru Population and Civil Registration Agency adds to the day of service for electronic ID (KTP-el) recording on Saturday and Sunday until the upcoming election.

Secretary of the agency Ali Yusran Sunday said this policy followed up on the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding KTP-el as a mandatory requirement for voters in the 2019 Election.

"This is related to the decision of the Constitutional Court which is final and cannot be contested, namely the voters must use KTP-el or a ID certificate," he said.

In Kotabaru, of the 224 thousand mandatory KTP-el 90 percent have already recorded and the remaining 19 thousand have not been and are expected to be proactive.

"The 19 thousand are spread in 21 sub-districts, but most are in the North Pulau Laut. Some people will only care when they need it. This means public awareness is still lacking," said Ali.

KTP recording services on Saturday and Sunday at the Disdukcapil office are open from 30 March to 14 April 2019.
