Batulicin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Indonesian Pharmacist Association (IAI) Tanah Bumbu Branch appealed to the entire community, especially teenagers, to be wise in taking medicines.

Chairman of the IAI Tanah Bumbu Branch Zainal Arifin here on Wednesday said this appeal continued to be carried out both through radio, media and face-to-face so that the community really understood what the impact would be when abusing drugs.

"Nowadays there are many ways done by teenagers who abuse drugs. Such as certain brand cough medicines when consumed in excess of doses can cause drunkenness and addiction," he explained.

If it is done continuously, the offender will experience dependency and result in disruption of the brain's nerves, such as depression, and the most fatal experiencing mental disorders.

According to him there are still many people who do not know how to get and consume drugs according to pharmaceutical procedures, so there is misuse, which has an adverse effect on themselves and others.

He exemplifies, if a sick person has to take medicine three times a day, it should not be done at will, or take medication if you just remember, or often forget. 3x1 tablets a day meaning every eight hours. If it's 2x1 tablet, it means 12 hours a drink.

"Even though we take medicine three times a day but the period is not right or even delayed, the drug level will not be effective," Zainal said.

He also explained the dose of teaspoon for liquid medicine or syrup medicine instead of small teaspoons in our homes. The general small spoon in Indonesia only ranges from 3ml, while the right dose for one teaspoon is 5 ml.
