Batulicin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Coal company PT Borneo Indobara in Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, is monitoring coral reefs in a marine conservation area in the company's concession.

"The background of this activity stems from our commitment from PT Borneo Indobara (BIB) to safeguard the environment in our coal concession area to be maintained," said Senior Manager of CSR and External Relations of PT BIB
Dindin Makinudin in Batulicin.

He said, starting from the flora, fauna, and ecosystem of the surrounding environment, both on land and in the sea which is in the jetty position of PT. Borneo Indobara on the coast of Bunati Beach is the responsibility of the company.

What feared is the impact of fine coal dust material can disrupt coral reef ecosystems around Bunati Beach. Therefore, his side continues to strive to maintain and monitor the growth of flora and fauna in the area.

Starting in 2012, the company continued to transplant coral reefs which then added a few more reef beams in the 2018 period.

Observation activities were carried out on Saturday 2 February 2019. The date was chosen because the conditions of the sea wave were calm and the weather was very bright.

There are two observation locations to be observed, first is the result of transplantation in 2018 and the second location of the results of the 2012 transplant.

From the results of monitoring, all coral reefs can be seen clearly and surely alive, because the condition of the sea water is very clear and not affected by company waste.

"After making observations at the first location, then we moved to
the second location is five minutes from the previous location. In the second location, the results of the 2012 transplant, with a depth of about five meters, were clearly visible, the growth of the terraces was very thick," said Dindin.
