Amuntai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) have begun to appear in the North Hulu Sungai District and almost in 10 sub-districts there have been reported residents suffering from diseases caused by the bite of the Aides Aygepti mosquito.

"The number of dengue fever patients as of February 8 was 63, most of the child patients are hospitalized," said the Head of the P2P Division of the Health Agency Masbudianto in Amuntai on Friday.

He said DHF was a four-year disease cycle, and the agency had anticipated it through health socialization and promotion, specifically the eradication of mosquito nest program and 3M plus action.

He explained, efforts to prevent the outbreak of DHF need participation and caring for the community with 3M continuous actions to prevent mosquitoes from spreading dengue.

Fogging is carried out in the area where the patient is infected by dengue. The number of fogging is according to the number of patients.

"Actually fogging is the last resort because there are already infected people. The implementation of fogging is under the supervision of the Health Office, because of the use of chemicals," he explained.

The community was urged not to carelessly do fogging on their own without permission and supervision from the health staff.

Masbudianto informed that in South Kalimantan there had been five cases of deaths of DHF patients as of January 31. It has disseminated a circular letter from the HSU Regent containing an appeal to the public to be vigilant and take 3M plus actions.

"If there are family members who experience symptoms of DHF, please immediately be taken to the local health center," he concluded.
