Batulicin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Tanah Bumbu will build irrigation networks in a number of rice fields in the district in an effort to increase agricultural yields.


"The initial steps taken were location identification surveys by the acceleration development team, which consisted of Agricultural Means and Infrastructure (BPSP), consultant, agricultural counseling agency, PPL WKPP," said Head of Lamijan Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities in Batulicin.

He explained mantri tani, participants of Gapoktan in the Kusan Hilir and Batulicin Subdistricts were also involved in irrigation development programs.

The survey was conducted aimed at ensuring the location and coordinates of the building construction forms are in accordance with the wishes of the community, while still paying attention to the Ministry of Agriculture's technical guidelines.

The construction of irrigation networks will be in the form of long storage water conservation buildings which are expected to support the addition of cropping indexes April-September 2019 and subsequent planting seasons.

The irrigation network will also have a positive impact on farmers, so they can overcome problems and risks of irrigation, such as flooding and drought.

"With this long storage water conservation irrigation system, it will make it easier for farmers to arrange water availability. So that they are free from floods or droughts," he said.
