Martapura, S Kalimantan(Antaranews Kalsel) - The Banjar District Government handed over assistance to residents of the Guntung Papuyu Village, Gambut Subdistrict, whose houses were damaged by a tornado on Friday (11/1) afternoon.


"We represent the Regent of Banjar, Khalilurrahman, who has given assistance to residents who are victims of tornadoes in the form of food and other equipment, such as tarpaulins," said Head of Banjar Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Irwan Kumar in Martapura, Saturday.

Irwan Kumar was accompanied by the Head of Social Protection and Disaster Victims Section of the Social Agency Sri Herlina when handing over aid and was received by 1006-08 Gambut Rayon Military Commander (Danramil) Capt. Cpl Bagus R.

In addition to assistance from the Banjar Government, residents also received basic need from the Quick Respond Team formed by the South Kalimantan BPBD.

"Assistance from us and from the South Kalimantan BPBD was immediately handed over to the victims, so they could use it for their daily food needs after the disaster," he said.

Meanwhile, based on data collection in the field, 9 houses in Guntung Papuyu Village and one house in Guntung Ujung Village experience moderate and mild damage due to strong winds.

"The assistance submitted is still in the early stages of fulfilling residents' food and drink. Later, there will be more assistance according to the capacity of the Banjar Government," said Sri Herlina.
