Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The South Kalimantan DPRD's Commission III for Development and Infrastructure again met the Long Bridge Commission during their working visit to Jakarta, January 6 - 8, 2019.
"Our goal to meet the Long Bridge Commission is to find out their attitude towards the construction of the Pulau Laut Strait Bridge in Kotabaru," said Secretary of Commission III H Riswandi SIP in Banjarmasin on Sunday.
"We want to ascertain how the continuation of the construction of the bridge connecting the main island of Kalimantan with Pulau Laut, where the capital city of Kotabaru District is," said the three periods member of South Kalimantan DPRD before leaving for Jakarta.
The reason, continued the former employee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia who had plunged into politics since the early 2000s, the existence of the Pulau Laut Strait Bridge was not only a dream of the residents of the eastern region of South Kalimantan but also the hopes of the general public.
Meanwhile, relying on regional finance is difficult to accelerate the development of the Pulau Laut Strait Bridge which can bring many benefits, including to support the resilience of the archipelago of eastern Indonesia.
"Therefore, we expect central government assistance to accelerate the development of the Pulau Laut Strait Bridge," said the people's representative from the Election District of South Kalimantan IV (Tapin District, South Hulu Sungai and Central Hulu Sungai).
However, the realization of central government assistance will wait for a recommendation from the Long Bridge Commission, mainly related to the safety of the construction of land transportation infrastructure in the eastern region of South Kalimantan.
"We have been waiting for the Long Bridge Commission recommends for several years. Therefore, during our visit this time we hope that the recommendations will come out soon," Riswandi said.
Earlier in 2010, the South Kalimantan provincial government planned to build the Kotabaru Pulau Laut Strait bridge, which is about three kilometers long, with estimated funding of Rp3.6 trillion, to be financed jointly. Namely Rp500 billion of the Provincial Government, while the Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu district governments each Rp250 billion, and the rest expect assistance from the central government.
The South Kalimantan Provincial Government has already disbursed Rp100 billion in funds to make an approach bridge. While the Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu are responsible for land acquisition.
