Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The toll road built in South Kalimantan between Banjarbaru City and Batulicin, is now open, said the official of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) office.
He stated, with all the toll road plans now connected 100 percent, South Kalimantan's PUPR is focused on hardening the 130-kilometer-long road.
"The construction of the Banjarbaru - Batulicin toll road planned continues. There are two rather long bridges," said Roy Rizali Anwar, head of the South Kalimantan PUPR in Banjarmasin on Monday, answering the Antaranews Kalsel.
He expects the central government will help to complete the construction. "In order to wheedle assistance from the central government, we continue to construct by using the local budget," he said.
"In the 2019 APBD (local budget), we are again allocating funds for the continuation of the construction," Roy said without mentioning the value of the budget.
On a separate occasion, Head of South Kalimantan Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Nurul Fajar Desira told that the toll road is not only to accelerate land transportation, but also to open isolation.
The toll road will also further develop the regional economy, because the access of the eastern region of South Kalimantan is easy and fast to the Hulu Sungai or "Banua Anam" area.
Banua Anam includes Tapin District, South Hulu Sungai (HSS), Central Hulu Sungai (HST), North Hulu Sungai (HSU), Balangan, and Tabalong.
