Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel)  - Banjarmasin City Government only gets IDR 160 million from swallow nest cultivation tax, even though this year's target is IDR 350 million.

Head of the Finance Agency Subhan Nor Yaumil in Banjarmasin on Tuesday acknowledged that locally derived income (PAD) for the tax sector is certainly not meeting this year's target, not even reaching 50 percent.

He did not explain why the tax revenue of swallow bird nests did not reach the target, except mentioning the taxation of swallow taxes carried out by the Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Agency.

"Our agency only accepts deposits from the tax collection," Subhan said.

The lack of swallow nest tax receipts was highlighted by Banjarmasin DPRD member Abdul Gais. He mentioned that the swallow tax a few years ago had been targeted at Rp1.5 billion, then it was reduced to Rp500 million, then lowered again to Rp350 million.

"Although it has been lowered, it turns out that the realization of swallow bird nest tax revenue is still far from the target. This is ironic," he said.

According to the legislator, if calculated by the number of swallow nests in this city, the target set should be reached.

"The obstacle that we hear is that the collection of this tax uses a belief system or waits for the owner's report when it is harvesting, of course there are many who are not honest," he explained.

Another reason, which he personally heard, was that the price of nests said to be decreased.
