Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Handling of digital evidence requires special expertise and knowledge so that police investigators are not wrong in acting.

For this reason, the South Kalimantan Regional Police held a workshop titled "Enhancing Investigator Professionalism in Handling Cases Related to Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law" at Hotel Banjarmasin International (HBI), Friday (7/12).

"We invite experts from the Center for Digital Forensic Studies of the Indonesian Islamic University of Yogyakarta to provide enlightenment for investigators, especially cyber investigators to be more professional," Director of Special Crime Investigation of South Kalimantan Regional Police Sr Comr Rizal Irawan told reporters.

Rizal acknowledged that digital evidence is different from evidence in general. Special handling is needed and investigators must be prepared for fluency in the process of investigation.

"It is expected that all content, both on computers, gadgets and other electronic media, such as programs, image files, and text documents, can be obtained comprehensively, so that they become evidence at the trial," Rizal said.

The Head of the Center for Digital Forensics Studies at the Islamic University of Indonesia Yudi Prayudi, who was a resource person, said that investigators' capacity was indeed an obstacle so far, especially at the lower levels, when handling ITE cases.

"Technically what it looks like, and from the legal side it must also be clear, so that correct understanding by investigators can reconstruct it," said Yudi, a member of the High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA).

The workshop, with moderator Daddy Fahmanadie from the Faculty of Law, University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), was attended by investigators of Money Laundering and Cybercrime Banking (PPUKDM) of the South Kalimantan Police's Directorate of Special Crime Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) and the heads of crime detective units from all resort police.
