Amuntai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - People in Teluk Betung Village, Norh Hulu Sungai, South Kalimantan, were startled by the discovery of an object suspected of pineapple-type grenades in the environment of the Teluk Betung Subsidized Muhammadiyah Elementary School.

A school guard who discovered an alleged grenade on Monday (26/11) immediately reported to the principal of the school who then forwarded the report to Sungai Pandan Police Station.

"We have secured the location of the suspected grenade by giving the police line, while waiting for the arrival of the South Kalimantan Regional Police Mobile Brigade bomb squad," said Sungai Pandan Police Chief Sc Insp (Iptu) Danu in Amuntai on Monday.

Danu appealed to residents not to approach the discovery site to avoid the possibility that there were still similar objects around the location.

Based on information from residents of Alabio, the location of the discovery of the alleged grenade was once an area of independence war against the Dutch colonizers.

Head of the Teluk Betung Subsidized Muhammadiyah Elementary School H Rahmadi said the school did not dismiss the students regarding the alleged discovery of a grenade.

"We only hope that the police can comb through all school environments so that they can be declared fully safe," he said.
